Liferay has indicated that they are moving away from .xml style files for configuration to .properties style files. We should update any portlet examples to follow their lead.

Changed Fix Version(s) to 1.7.2, Assignee Priority to P3 and assigned it to me; this might be out-of-scope for this release though

The liferay-plugin-package files have been changed from .xml to .properties format for

samples/component-showcase/portlet
samples/portlet/chat
